IBM Project Manager certification

I'm thrilled to share that I've earned the IBM Project Manager certification!

In October 2024, I enrolled in the Project Manager course by IBM & SkillUp EdTech on Coursera.org. Joining this course is one of the many steps I've taken in the last six months to transition out of a research-focused role. I plan to share more about the other steps in future posts, but for now, let's focus on why I decided to join this course.

Why did I join this course?

My education and professional background are deeply rooted in scientific research. As detailed in my CV, all of my professional experiences to date have been connected to research in some way. Early on, I engaged in outreach activities at ESCIENCIA (2016) and innovation projects at BSH Home Appliances (2017). Most recently, I've dedicated myself to fundamental research, working at institutions such as CSIC-INMA, CEMES-CNRS, and FLEET-Monash University (2018-2024).

While I've gained knowledge and skills to manage research projects, I lacked a broader understanding of how to apply these skills to any project, regardless of the field.

My goals in joining this course were to:

  • Learn the full structure of the project lifecycle.
  • Familiarise myself with project management terminology, techniques, and tools.
  • Gain hands-on experience managing projects across various phases and domains.

Completing this course has given me valuable insights and the confidence to manage diverse projects effectively. Stay tuned for more updates as I continue sharing the steps I've taken to strengthen my career in project management!
